celebrating and creating our own LGBTQI+ history in honour of Sheila McWattie

Day twenty six

Three cousins, two aunties, the yard in bloom,

Crammed in the photo without much room,

Nan and my mum and my brother, aged three

My mum laughing (now I see me),

Short hair, big glasses, frilly shirts,

80s patterned, colourful skirts,

A picture of my family,

An Anglo-Asian matriarchy,

A normal day – it’s hard to name,

Of everyone dressed quite the same.
